PSL Score
PSL Score Explained.
Where PSL came from
PSL is a portmanteau of three early-2010s forums — PuaHate, Sluthate, and Lookism — where users obsessed over facial aesthetics and built a shared rating language. The scale leaked into looksmaxxing TikTok and now sits at the center of every “rate me” subreddit.
The PSL scale
PSL is a 1–10 scale, but the meaningful range is 4–9. The mapping:
- PSL 1–3 — heavily atypical features; rare even on the forums
- PSL 4 — below average; multiple penalized features
- PSL 5 — average; the median face
- PSL 6 — above average; “good-looking”
- PSL 7 — top decile; usually conventionally attractive
- PSL 8 — top 2%; “Chad-tier” in forum vocabulary; recognizable model potential
- PSL 9–10 — top fraction of a percent; world-class models, professionally photographed
The scale rewards specific markers: hunter eyes (positive canthal tilt), strong gonial angle, hollow cheeks, full upper-third (forehead-to-brow ratio), and skin clarity.
Why people use it
PSL gives a shared language. “PSL 6.5” carries more information in one number than a paragraph of description. It’s also harsh by design — the median is 5, not 7 — so users get a reality check that Instagram filters don’t provide.
The flip side: PSL is a community standard, not a scientific one. It over-weights eye area and bone structure relative to skin and grooming.
How Fazly’s score maps to PSL
Fazly outputs a 0–100 score. The rough mapping:
| Fazly | PSL | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| 30 | 4 | Multiple penalty zones |
| 50 | 5 | Average |
| 65 | 6 | Above average |
| 75 | 7 | Top 10% |
| 85 | 8 | Top 2% |
| 92+ | 9+ | Model-tier |
We deliberately don’t show “PSL 7.5” because the half-points lead to anxiety more than insight. The 100-point scale gives you a more granular delta when you re-scan after grooming or skin work.
Should you take PSL seriously?
For self-improvement and tracking progress: yes. The scale is consistent, harsh, and useful for measuring change.
For self-worth: no. PSL measures one narrow dimension of one type of attractiveness as judged by one online subculture. Real attraction includes voice, presence, fitness, style, and personality — none of which a face score touches.

Canthal Tilt
The angle from your inner eye corner to your outer one. Positive tilt (outer corner higher) reads as more attractive across cultures. Neutral is fine. Negative tilt drags your face score down.

Looksmaxxing
A self-improvement framework focused on physical appearance — skincare, grooming, posture, fitness, style, and sometimes cosmetic procedures. Has a 'softmaxxing' (low-effort) and 'hardmaxxing' (surgical) wing. Fazly is built for the softmaxxing path.

Jawline Score
A 0–100 measure of jawline definition. Combines gonial angle (corner of the jaw), bigonial width (horizontal jaw breadth), submental softness (under chin), and chin projection. Fazly's jaw model is the highest-correlated sub-score with overall rating.
